Analysis Questions
-
Which player has the
smallest range of points? List the name and
range.
Adam range = 7
-
Which player has the largest
range of points? List the name and range.
Dave range = 17
-
Compare and contrast the
upper extremes. What does this tell you about
the players?
Dave has the highest scores
with 20 points in a game, Laura has the next
highest, and Adam has the lowest number of
points in a game for an upper extreme with 16
points. It may seem like Dave is the best
player, but his box-and-whisker graph is also
the widest, indicating a greater difference in
points among the games he played.
-
Compare and contrast the
lengths of the boxes. What does the length of
the box tell you about the players?
The length of the boxes
indicates the consistency of the points scored.
Although Adam has the fewest number of points
scored and the lowest mean, he is also the most
consistent player among the three.
-
Which player would you want
on your team? Explain.
I would choose Adam because
he is the most consistent player and would play
a more consistent game. I could “count on” his
scoring more points.
