DNA FAQ's

Q: Is the pre-mission lesson plan necessary for the mission?

A: It is MANDATORY to complete the pre-mission lesson plan prior to the start of the mission.  The mission scenario is started in the classroom with the pre-mission activity and then concludes with the live event of the e-Lab. Make sure their pre-mission organizers are saved for the mission as this is important information.

Q:  If I have a class size of 32 , can I still conduct a mission with all of my class involved?

A:  Yes, the additional students could be distributed to teams; however if there are more than 35 students we would ask that you separate the students into two missions so that everyone can enjoy the full experience.

Q: I have a computer lab; can all students use their own computers?

A: The minimal amount of computers needed for the DNA e-Lab is 10 (or two per team).  If you want to use a computer lab and designate areas for each team, you are welcome to do so.

Please keep in mind all computers will require the latest version of Adobe Flash installed.

Q: Do all students require the printable materials for the mission?

A: No. With the pre-mission lesson, you will already have two copies of each organizer for each team. However, the students will each need a copy of the blood typing results page and a copy of the Determining blood types reference guide.

Q: Will the students actually be using blood typing during the lab?

A: The students will be using blood sample results sent electronically to them during the e-Lab.
